SunPro vs. ALEKO Awnings: What You’re Really Paying For

Warranty
Warranty coverage alone often explains a large portion of the price gap.
SunPro advertises a 10-year, non-prorated warranty covering hardware, fabric, and motors, and states that the warranty is transferable.
ALEKO typically lists a 1-year limited warranty.
Why this matters:If a motor, arm component, or fabric seam fails in years 3–8, the cost of repair or replacement can easily exceed the upfront savings of a lower-cost awning. With longer coverage, SunPro shifts that risk away from the homeowner.

Fabric Quantity

Fabric is one of the biggest performance differentiators, especially in sunny or humid climates.
SunPro is heavily positioned around Sunbrella® solution-dyed acrylic fabrics, offering around 30 in-stock options and hundreds of custom choices. Sunbrella fabrics are known for excellent UV resistance, color retention, and mold/mildew resistance.
ALEKO patio awnings commonly use 280 gsm polyester fabric.
Some ALEKO RV models use PVC/vinyl tarpaulin.
In hot, high-UV environments, solution-dyed acrylic tends to hold its color, texture, and overall “feel” significantly longer than standard polyester awning cloth.
Assembly
The two brands are built with different end users in mind.
SunPro emphasizes features typically found in professionally installed systems:
Semi-cassette housings
Optional integrated LED lighting
Broad size and projection customization
ALEKO products are usually shipped as assembly-required kits with standard wall brackets and value-focused components.
Cassette or housing design matters more than most buyers realize. When retracted, it helps protect the fabric and arms from constant UV exposure, dirt, and weather — which directly impacts longevity.

Customization

SunPro advertises a wide size range, including very large widths (up to 40 feet) and multiple projections, with extensive fabric customization.
ALEKO generally focuses on a set of common, boxed sizes with a more retail-style replacement parts experience.
You can get parts for ALEKO units, but the support experience is typically not the same as working with a higher-end manufacturer or dealer network.
Bottom line:
SunPro is built for homeowners who want to install an awning once and enjoy it for the long haul. Between the 10-year warranty, Sunbrella®-class fabrics, and higher-end construction designed to handle daily use and harsh sun, it’s simply a more durable, lower-stress investment. ALEKO can save money upfront, but SunPro is the obvious choice if you care about longevity, reliability, and peace of mind.
